John Gottfreit Ciriack
January 15, 1798 ~ November 9, 1867
& Mary Christiana E. (unknown)
Clothes Maker, born in Reichenbach-Vogtland The key to finding the ancestors of John Gottfreit may lie in his clothes making skills - something usually passed along from father to son.  [ Reichenbach is southeast of Erfurt near Zwickau and the Czechoslovakian border. ]

[ The reason we sometimes know everything about the parent except the region where they lived is that the information comes from the 'public' records created on behalf of one of their children, which may have been provided from the memory of a third party.  In this case, the dates seem to have been discovered by Werner CIRIACK, while the descendents come from records Ben Ciriacks found in New England back in 1973.

Some charts Ben prepared back in 1973 and updated over the years indicate the connection between John Gottfreit and Charles Lewis (Louis).  Whether that was a valid connection or not needs confirmation from another source.  The records Ben found indicated that Charles Lewis' father was John Gottfriet, with a "t" in Gottfriet, while Werner's discovery, in Germany, was of Johann Gottfried, with the formal Johann spelling and the "d" in Gottfried.  Both finds, of course, had the same and very key CIRIACK spelling of the last name.
